In true Brene Brown fashion, I am reaching far outside of my comfort zone on this post and embracing all kinds of vulnerability. After finishing my second blog post last week titled "Lovely Lavender" I was not as excited as I thought I would feel. I was happy with the subject but there was a sense of deception on my part, unintentional as it may have been. I purchased the lavender, as I have done in the past, and set it up for the picture to show you how you can use this item to simply beautify your life. Nothing wrong there. But what you can't see is that the guest room in which I took this picture is an absolute disaster and those places I took the picture are the only visibly straightened areas. I reminded myself that the purpose of this blog is not to make our home look like the cover of a magazine. That is not real life and it is definitely not my life. The purpose of this blog is to encourage you to find beauty in the little things and incorporate them into your home and world when and where possible. So, in complete full disclosure, below are photos of what the room looked like when I was taking the pictures and what the room looks like now that I have had time to clean it up. My brother-in-law had stayed with us a few weekends ago and I had not put clean sheets back on the bed. In fact, there is another load of laundry on top of the bed that needed to be folded. My recent birthday celebrations brought out gift wrapping and bags which had yet to be organized and stored. You can also see that I had photo frames cluttering the top of the armoire as I lent some of those frames to a friend for her wedding centerpieces.
Bottom line-I have been busy and cleaning this room had not been at the top of my priority list. Writing a blog post about lavender; however, was important to me and I made the time to complete that task. I learned a few things, enjoyed myself and hopefully inspired you in some way.
Why do I share all of this? Because, while I am a lover of all things Pinterest, it can put me in the fetal position for days. I begin to stress that I will just never measure up. I can become discontent with what I have and lose focus of what is really important to me. Hence my outlet "EveryDay Details Matter" where I can share ideas and things to make our lives more beautiful in the most simplest of ways. So, power to Pinterest! It promotes creativity and beauty and innovation and health-all things we admire and appreciate. Soak it in, use what you can, have fun with it but just remember that your life is crazy, busy, messy and your own full disclosure!
